This year, the World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) introduced a new World Cup Points Scoring System to rank nations regarding their Ultimate Frisbee strength. Based on the results of this year's Worlds in Vancouver, each country got a score for their performance in the three divisions Open, Women and Mixed. In the following you can find the current WFDF world ranking, in brackets the position in Open, Women, and Mixed as well as the assigned points:

  1. Canada (1=100, 3=91, 1=100) 291 in total

  1. 100 points (+5 compared to next position)
  2. 95 (+4)
  3. 91 (+4)
  4. 87 (+3)
  5. 84 (+3)
  6. 81 (+2)
  7. 79 (+2)
  8. 77 (+1)
  9. 76 (+1)
  10. ... (+1)

The main purpose for this ranking was to determine the World Games 2009 Qualifying Scores to allocate five spots in addition to host country Taiwan. Following the scores, Canada, USA, Japan, Australia and Great Britain have the honour to make up the Ultimate Frisbee division of this great event, played as Mixed. It will be the third time that Ultimate Frisbee is played at World Games, with previous events in Akita 2001 and in Duisburg 2005.

This ranking will also serve as a basis for bid allocations of other WFDF Ultimate Frisbee events, such as the next major event: 2010 Worlds in Prague.
